I would like to report a skunking. Launched out of the Catt. Saw 55 degrees in some bays but the fish weren’t there at this time. A couple of buddies went west out of Dunkirk and got a two man limit. Location location. On a really scary note….holy crap that fog bank that rolled in was some scary ****!!  We could not see two feet in front of our face. The GPS got a little squirrelly at one point and I almost put the boat on the rocks. I pulled out my cell phone compass feature and got us back to our track but wow that was unreal. Clear skies with total sky visibility to zero in 2 minutes.

That's crazy! We almost ended up on the Sodus pier one year back in the days of Loran-C when Lady O decided to throw some fog at us. It's scary stuff. But the skunking is more concerning lol.

Better days ahead.

Fished out of Buffalo last night. Wind made it tough for a good presentation. Two of us wound up with 10. Trolling motor died before out last pass, or we would have boxed out all nice eaters.

Tough grind East wind bite tonight. Fished from Smoke’s creek to Hamburg shore. Maybe a fish an hour. All eater sized fish. Renosky’s and scatter rap minnows.

Good fishing last night West of Dunkirk yielding a three man limit of walleye.  Spawning males. Size was bigger this outing. Scatter rap minnows and ripplin redfins in natural colors. We had a crazy occurrence happen twice last night when we snagged bottom only to find when we freed the lure there was a walleye on the end.  The only thing I can think happened is there was a fish following the bait and when it snagged, the fish thought it was a goby diving under the rocks or it was watching the stuck twitching bait and once the lure was freed it struck.

How deep you fishing Gill? Fished last night out of Buffalo. Marine forecast said 1 foot or less more like 3 and 4s. Board fishing was tough only landed 3 Walleye. My buddy landed a nice Brown and a SM. Tough grind to say the least.

The inshore daytime bite is starting. Some females showing now. Some are resorbing their eggs (never unloaded). Post spawn skinnys that need to put the feed bag on in time for south towns. Have not done southtowns derby so may give it a try this year.

Great bite last night, slower bite today off the Catt on stickbaits. Buddy fishing West of Barcelona did well with summer tactics 52-62’ on worm harnesses -riggers, dipsys and 5colors. We pulled out the spinning gear and fished some Ned rigs and blade baits. Highlight was a 6.5 lb smallmouth.

Managed one from the kayak on a Finger Lake this morning that was close to six. I almost hit up Erie, but none of my buddies returned my calls last night lol.

For those thinking about getting a transient slip in Dunkirk, Chadwick Bay Marina charges $2.5 per foot per night.

Looks like the lake flipped. Warm water appears only to be around Buffalo.
